UDOM’S ADMINISTRATION: The Worst in History of Akwa Ibom State – Part 2
Ingratitude they say is a sin. God knows how we were made, and He designed us to thrive when we are humble, moral, and thankful. When we are arrogant, immoral, and ungrateful, we cannot have access to Him despite our prayers and fasting. Those that give gratitude to Him easily move Him and He always listens to them. The same thing applies to us as humans. When you give gratitude to your benefactor you’re giving him more reasons to do more, once another opportunity presents itself.
Recall that The Nigerian Senate on July 2018, approved the payment of over #400billion Naira to States for the construction of Federal roads across the country. Lagos State Government was the highest beneficiary with over #100billion followed by Akwa Ibom State with over #78bn [ see the attached documents for perusal]
This information was first released to the public by our son, Distinguished Senator Ita Enang, few months after the 2019 general election. The Senator said that the Federal Government had released over #78b to Akwa Ibom State, being the refund of debts owed during Governor Attah and Akpabio’s administrations from 1999 -2015 respectively.
As dramatic as usual, in a bid to deny every donations or refunds to State, the then Commissioner for works now a Chief of staff to the governor, Hon. Ephraim Inyangeyen, rushed and debunked the story, tagged it as “LIES”, but acknowledged the receipt of only #20b from Federal Government.
Before now, Akwa Ibom State Government had captured #N50b in 2020 budget proposal as re-imbursement from Federal Government for Federal projects executed with state fund. This level of twisting every truth that has to do with financial report of the State can be described as “EXECUTIVE LIES”.[ see document attached circled with red]
However, Federal Government approved the same funds in second trench to Rivers State Government in June, 2020. Governor Nyesom Wike wrote to President Muhammadu Buhari and other members of Federal Executive Council to show gratitude and thanked them for the timely approval over #78b to Rivers State even under Covid-19 pandemic. Wike published the appreciation on National dailies both on print and online platforms including his social media handles and acknowledged this gesture from the presidency. [ see advertorials and link for perusal:
In recent time, we have seen and heard the infrastructural revolution in Rivers State courtesy of the funds reimbursed to Rivers State but in Akwa Ibom State, the story is different. Almost all the road construction had been abandoned, making the citizens to believe that “ke mkpo Ibaha”.
Till date, No Commissioner, Media head or even the governor from Akwa Ibom State Government has publicly acknowledge the receipt of the #78b from Federal Government like his counterpart did. This is a clear case of ingratitude!
Oh Akwa Ibom, cry my beloved State!!
