I am delighted to welcome you to this auspicious occasion of unveiling of the COVID-19 Operational Guidelines for Hospitality and Allied Services Operations in Apwa lbom state.
All over the world, the COVID-19 Pandemic has had unimaginable impact on personal ives and economics of businesses, states and countries, including our country Nigeria. In our dear Akwa lbom State, it is on record that the hospitality sector, like other sectors was badly affected by the pandemic.
However, we are grateful to our amiable Governor, His Excellency, Mr. Udom Emmanuel for his
magnanimity in lifting the lockdown on hospitality establishments in the state as well as provision of funds and logistics for the regulation, monitoring and Successtul implementation of the COviID-19 Guidelines for Hospitality and Allied
Services Operations in the state. The Akwa Ibom Hospitality Monitoring leam (AKHMT) is saddled with the responsibility of ensuring compliance.
It is our duty to ensure that hospitality businesses in the state are carried out according to the World Health Organization’s best practices for the safety of both guests and employees. We therefore urge practitioners to adhere strictly to the Guidelines provided today as the monitoring team has the mandate to penalize offenders as it deems fit.
I will like to draw your attention to the fact that we will have a workshop involving all Stakeholders on this matter on Thursday, 3rd September, 2020, at this same venue. In addition, other seminars, workshops and training activities will be embarked on in the near future to ensure compliance.
On behalf of my team, I say welcome to this important occasion.
