The Akwa Ibom State college of Education Afaha Nsit has concluded the 2020/2021 Student Union Government (SUG) elections.

The election took place at the College Mini Theatre today, Friday, 30 April 2021.

After a keenly contested polls, comrade Silas Elijah Asuquo a 200 level students of the Department of Social Studies polled a total of 712 votes to beat his closes rival, Comrade Edikan Francis Otu of department of English Language who scored 598 votes.

Consequently, Cmrd Silas Elijah Asuquo was declared the winner and subsequently been inaugurated as the 2020/2021 session SUG President of the College.

Recall, the Provost of the College, Dr. Daniel George Udo had earlier assured of a free, fair and credible exercise.

Meanwhile, other candidates who prevailed at the election and inaugurated included Comrade Utibe Etim, Vice President I, Comrade Udo Mary Friday, Vice President II, John Mokumfon, Assistant Secretary, Kingsley Sunday, Treasurer, Udo Ruth Pius, Director of Welfare, George Albert Godwin, Director of Sports, Jackson Nsisong Sunday, Financial Secretary, Umoren Peter Friday, Director of Justice, Dickson Unyime Young, Director of Social, Udo Edidiong Iniodu, Director of Special Duties and Umoren Idongesit Mfon Director of Information.

A bye election will be conducted into the office of General Secretary of the institutions SUG executive.

Those who also witnessed the the election were, the Provost, Dr Daniel George Udo, represented by the Dean of Students Affairs, Dr Ubong Silas, Deputy Provost Administration, Dr. Edo Obot Ekanem, Chairman of Electoral Committee, Dr. Wilson Udofia and his Committee members, CSO, CSP Sam Ediette rtd., amongst others.
