History is made by activities of the present, which leaches into the past to shade the future – history is an entity with hind eyes and hind-sighting ability.


One day, the governor Udom Emmanuel administration will bow out and succession will conquer – and his times and doings as a governor will become a given of history – that is fine! It is traditional and conventional. But what will the history of tomorrow speak of governor Udom Emmanuel?


A close assessment offers a stupendous pile of legacy which will enrich the memory box of Udom’s history and shall be remembered for his numerous transformation for human course, especially the transformation of the envionment.


Since history has its eyes in the back,whenever it would be provoked to look back, the name and sight of Udom Emmanuel would conjure up make a beautiful sight of an environment which he had meticulously reformed – a great legacy, the least to say! He surely will be remembered for a lot, primarily his strides in streamlining programs and projects to the general overhaul of the environment sector.

it is in the times of governor Emmanuel that Akwa Ibom has received with her bare hands the benignity of the true ideals of what pundits term ‘environmentalism’ which, in its core, features: resource conservation, utilitarian conservation, aesthetic nature and biodiversity preservation, all with a deepened concern about health and ecological damages caused by pollution and other environmental degrading factors .


In his three-plus years, Udom Emmanuel has built a legacy that will forever outdo the previous and shape the succeeding generations of enviromental legacies.


When history shall look back, it shall take a sight on a governor whose environmental policies and reformative commitment encouraged harmony between the people and their environment, supported and promoted efforts to prevent further degradation of their environment, eliminated damage to their environment, stimulated the health and welfare of the populace and sought to enrich collective understanding of the environment and natural resources.


In 2021 he drew up a thirty-two-item Strategic Work Plan that created a robust integrative system for environmental management with a strengthened legislative backing. The work plan had items that made for the protection of the biodiversity, like the newly mainstreamed Effluence Discharge policy.

Governor Emmanuel is recently engrossed in discourses and projects of putting a price on pollution as a means of inducing control of environmental deterioration and our collective biodiversity.


These were important environmental perspectives that were relegated to the ebb in years past, but the Udom Emmanuel led administration has rescucitated them for the collective good of all.
