The honour tagged Ibom Productivity Order of Merit Awards will hold at the banquet hall of Government House, Uyo at 6pm.
The Commissioner for Labour and Manpower Planning, Pastor Sunny Ibuot who offered the insight while briefing Journalists as part of activities to mark this year’s workers day celebration noted that the event will be the first of its kind in the State.
He stated that the programme which is anchored by the Ministry with the goal to identify, appreciate and encourage individuals who have been outstanding in their pursuits especially in agriculture and entrepreneurship will hold yearly.
Ibuot said the merit award is geared towards showcasing the rich human resources of Akwa Ibom State and also spur the people to be creative towards contributing their quota to the growth process of the state.
The Commissioner added ” Our dear Governor appreciates productivity, that’s the reason he has found it necessary to award and celebrate Akwa Ibom workers in line with our Productivity Week. Those who will be honoured are people who have developed strong commitment in contributing to the development of Akwa Ibom State.”
Ibuot offered insight to the fact that the evaluation process of selecting those who merit the award has been thorough so as to promote excellence and hard work among individuals and help to influence and rearrange the manpower potentials of the state.
He stated “Awardees must be role models in whatever they do, cutting across age, gender, entrepreneurship, private and public services.”
The Commissioner commended the organized labour in the State and her leadership for the partnership developed and sustained with government over the years.
Ibuot who described the Governor Udom Emmanuel’s administration as workers friendly explained that labour issues currently experienced are inherited but assured that in no distant time, they will be history hence the reason the State Government has been meticulous in handling them through holistic approach.
