AKSG Flags off Solar Power Reinstallation at Idongesit Nkanga Secretariat Complex

The Akwa Ibom State Government on Thursday flagged off the reinstallation of solar-powered lighting system at the Idongesit Nkanga Secretariat Complex in Uyo metropolis.

The project which was flagged off by the Governor, Udom Emmanuel, is expected to light up and beautify the secretariat complex.

The Governor, who was represented by the Head of Service, Effiong Essien, said that when completed, the project will provide uninterrupted illumination at the complex.

Mr. Emmanuel noted that the solar-powered lighting system will also be installed at the Governor’s Office Annex.

He decried the situation where government property were vandalised and stolen because of the poor lighting of the secretariat complex.

“A reputable solar power company – Global System Limited has been commissioned to execute the reactivation and re-installation of solar power light at the state secretariat and also the Governor’s Office Annex,” the governor said.

“The new all-in-one solar power system is such that the vandalism of batteries and panels as was the case in the past will no longer be experienced. However, those who are wont to vandalizing Government’s property were warned to desist from their nefarious activities as perpetrators will be made to face the full wrath of the law.

“So, today, we hand over the site to Global System Limited for the reactivation and re-installation of over 166 solar-powered lights to be completed in the next 30 days.”

Responding, the Site Engineer to Global System Limited, Richard Amesi, expressed appreciation to the governor for awarding such a high social value project to his company.

“The paper flat/chip-like battery and panel pattern in the new all-in-one solar power system will have no market value for thieves and vandals,” said Mr. Amesi.

He, however, conveyed the company’s resolve to deliver the project within the stipulated contract timeline.
